This set of photos are from Hampfell, a hilltop near a place near Grange - it *technically* isn't in the Lake District...but nevermind. The bay in some of the photos is Morecambe Bay, which is quite famous. This is one of my fave places in the whole world (though I haven't seem most of it ).

Built in 1846 by the vicar of Cartmel, Hampsfell Hospice has provided shelter for travellers ever since. There's some stone benches round the inside, but there's barely standing space - I think if you laid down, your feet would probably go past the exit...there's a fireplace inside, but I think it only gets used by vandals nowadays. I think the hospice is suppose to be for people lost in a storm, but they put right at the highest point of Hampsfell - so I think it's prolly just a Victorian thing to make the place look nice.
