Boredom

The thread on 16T made me think about this.
I don't really get bored in a broad sense such as, my life is boring etc... just short term boredom for the most part.
I'll be sitting at home on a Thursday that I have off and think, hmm, I'm bored.  Then i'll be bored and a few hours later I'll be out and about doing something with a friend or just driving around for a spell.  I can ALWAYS find things to do.
I wonder if this has anything to do with the way my weeks are scheduled.

I work 12 hour days when I work.  The days I work are Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and every other Wednesday. I work from 730am to about 750pm.  This makes it difficult to ever do anything other than work on the days that I actually work.
However, working this schedule has always kept me looking forward to days off, and seriously makes the time go by very fast.  The 7 years I've done this job I've been on this same schedule and I'm able to say that the time really does fly because every week you're looking forward to the weekend.  Much like the rest of the world of course, the only difference is... half of my regular work weeks are only 3 days long.  I've said it a million times or so, that I could never go back to working a 9-5 job ever again after this job.
Now, with this schedule, I always make plans for my weekends to be as fun-filled and packed with things to do as possible.  Whether it's going to the park to play disc-golf or bowling, or kick a soccerball around, or watching a game at the local sports bar...etc.

Point is, I rarely can say I'm bored and when I am it's because I find myself not wanting to spend any money or not having a person to hang out with...lol
This does happen but it's rare and I try to keep it that way.

I wish I could pass some parts of my life to people who seem down sometimes.  It's not all that good but I can always see things from an optimist point of view vs the typical pessimist that i'm used to seeing by many people on forums.

I don't really know what this was, I think I just started typing...lolweirdface

When we're all cyborgs, you can transfer your optimism to us all over wireless internet. Something else to look forward to. :P

I have no idea what thread you're talking about, because I'm still in exile from the16, but I'm rarely bored. Lonely sometimes, sad sometimes, but not so much bored. Like you said, if I find myself bored, I'll do something to change it. There's lots to do - things I maybe should be doing right now, but I wanted to take a few minutes for a break. What I find funny, and it makes me laugh anytime someone has said it, is that instead of talking to people on a forum, like I'm doing now,  I should be "doing something productive IRL" - as if I don't do more in a year than the kind of people who say such things have done in their whole lives.
